- Table Mountain from the Heartbreak Ridge trail. Hundreds of years ago the side of the mountain slid down into the Gorge revealing this cliff.
- This shows where the ancient landslide slid into the Gorge. From this vantage point the Columbia River looks dammed today. In the lower left of the photo you can see a more recent landslide which occurred in early 2008.
- I think this is Sacagawea Rock and Papoose Rock is behind it. This is from Heartbreak Ridge Trail.
- The Heartbreak Ridge Trail goes through this talus field. The reflected sun off the basalt rocks really heats this area up on sunny days.
- The Heartbreak Ridge Trail has some nice views into the Gorge. Here is Bonneville Dam with Mt. Hood in the background.
- Sign on Heartbreak Ridge Trail directing hikers to the top of Table Mountain.
- The upper slopes of Table Mountain have a nice mix of wildflower and provide wonderful views of Mt. Hood. The sky was getting hazier as the day progressed.
- Sacagawea and Papoose Rocks from Heartbreak Ridge Trail. I think Sacagawea Rock is the first rock.
- A nice mix of wildflower among the rocks can be found on Table Mountain. Here Lupines and Indian Paintbrush bloom in July.
- The hiking trail goes out to the end of Table Mountain. This view is looking northwest, away from the Gorge.
- There were very few unpleasant bugs on this hike. Just a few at Table Mountain. I watched two butterflies dancing in the air. One would chase the other jetting straight into the air then plunging back towards the flowers. I was amazed how fast these butte
- Table Mountain has some really fine views of Mt. Adams. Here I was able to get some wildflowers in the bottom of the picture for some perspective.
- Lots of wildflower meadows on the bushwhack trail.
