- Turkey Vultures lazily glide across the land looking for a meal at the Tom McCall Nature Preserve.
- Trail sign near at the edge of the Rowena Crest parking area.
- Tourist sign marking Rowena Crest on the Columbia River Scenic Highway.
- There are two ponds along the lower trail in the Tom McCall Nature Preserve. This is the larger pond and it is at least a couple of acres in size. These ponds are a magnet for birds.
- There are several signs explaining features of the Tom McCall Nature Preserve.
- There are several nice overlooks of the Columbia River. In most places the cliffs below block most of the highway noise.
- The white flowers of Fool's Onion (Latin name: Brodiana hyacinthina) dot the meadows in early to mid-May at the Tom McCall Nature Preserve.
- The Tom McCall Point trail features Indian Paintbrush mixed in the fields.
- The Oak trees are leafing out and the Indian Paintbrush is mixed in with the Balsamroot plants. This is near the summit of the Tom McCall Point hike.
- Poison Oak just leafing out in the spring. Some of the sprigs are in the trail Rowena Plateau Trail.
- Parts of the hillside are covered with Balsamroot. This view is to the northwest.
- One area near the second pond sports a bit of Mimulus or Monkeyflower.
- Once on the summit, a trail continues down the east side, then up again to the edge of the preserve. This picture is from a side trail that leads to this meadow.
