- Zach using a rope to descend the Wonderland Trail near Winthrop Creek.
- Zach crossing Winthrop Creek. We found a nice spot in the shade to take a break after crossing the creek.
- Zach crossing the suspension bridge over the Carbon River near Carbon River Camp. This is always one of the highlights of the trip because we always take a break at the west end of the bridge in the shade.
- Zach crossing a log bridge over the Carbon River on the way to Ipsut Campground.
- Zach and Drew getting water at Ipsut Falls before hitting the trail to Carbon River Camp.
- You can barely see Bonneville Dam from the clearing near Camp Smokey.
- Yellowstone Cliffs just west of Windy Gap on the Northern Loop Trail.
- Yellow Wallflower or Wormseed Mustard (Latin name: Erysimum arenicola) blooming near the top of Salmon Butte.
- Yellow flowers carpet parts of the hillside.
- Wyeth Trailhead in the Columbia River National Scenic Area.
- Winthrop Glacier and the glacial stream flowing from underneath the glacier. Rocks and dirt are constantly falling off the top of the glacier and rolling downt he ice face into the streambed.
- Winter storms can pile snow to surprising depths around Mt. Hood. One more good snowstorm will cover this sign, making routefinding more difficult.
- Winter snows cover Longmire Meadows in January.
- Winter rains gather making their way downhill and gathering to cascade off cliffs along the trail during the wet season. This is just at the edge of the trail on Horsetail Creek Trail.
- Wildwood Golf Course can bee seen to the east of this hike.
