- Winter snows cover Longmire Meadows in January.
- Wildwood Golf Course can bee seen to the east of this hike.
- Views of the Willamette River and Portland in the distance. This is take from a viewpoint near the high point of the trail.
- Viewpoints have been constructed with Lewis and Clark information signs along the trail. There are benches to sit on at these viewpoints.
- Travelling east, the trail uses an existing dike. Mt. Hood is partially eclipsed by the foothills to the southeast.
- This trail presents a dichotomy of the woods and river on the south side of the trail and an industrial area on the north side of the trail for the first mile.
- The springs in the meadows stay open all winter despite the snows that cover Longmire Meadows.
- The second Sag Pond that I saw was right next to the trail.
- The Columbia River shines at the end of the short trail from Recognition Plaza to Cottonwood Beach.
- Steamboat Landing Trailhead for the Steigerwald Lake Trail in Washougal, WA
- Snow buries a bridge on the southwest side of Longmire Meadows. The water is still warm enough to stay open all winter.
