- Log bridge over the Carbon River on the way to Ipsut Campground. These bridges wash out every year and the fantastic trail crews build new ones or put the old bridges back in place.
- Yellowstone Cliffs just west of Windy Gap on the Northern Loop Trail.
- Standing at the overview of Crescent Lake looking at the Crescent Mountains and Mt. Rainier peeking out near Windy Gap.
- A small meltwater pond reflects a bit of the Cresent Mountains near Windy Gap on the Northern Loop Trail.
- Looking down at Cresent Lake from the small saddle above Windy Gap. This is one of the few vantage points for Cresent Lake.
- These plants with pink flowers look like a giant version of Dutchman's Breeches (Latin name: Corydalis scouleri). They grow 5 to 6 feet high along the trail between Carbon River Camp and Ipsut Campground on the west side of Carbon River.

- Our campsite at Lake James Camp along the Northern Loop Trail at Mt. Rainier National Park. We had the camp to ourselves this night. There was still a bit of snow by the bear pole in late July.
- Looking to the northeast past Yellowstone Cliffs just west of Windy Gap on the Northern Loop Trail.
- The ranger cabin for Lake James. This is a ways above the lake. The cabin got a new roof and luckily wasn't damaged from winter storms. Nearby trees were not so lucky and dozens were blown down in a tangled mess.
