- Nature provides infinite patterns. I liked the way the crook of this long-dead tree had the moss growing on it. I wonder how many years it took the moss to grow in this harsh climate.
- Paradise River is quite frigid looking just above Narada Falls. You have to get off the trail a bit to see this. Be careful to stay at least 7 feet from the edge of the canyon.
- Madcap Falls looks great in winter.
- Looking downstream on the bank of the Nisqually River along the Wonderland Trail.

- Trailmates Tim, Meagan, and Mark returning from Paradise River Camp.
- This view is from the big bridge over the Nisqually River. Several rivers flowing from Mt. Rainier don't freeze all the way over.
- Groups of Tent caterpillars cover a branch along the South Coldwater trail.

- A tributary to Paradise River is crossed by 3 log bridges. The 3rd stream is the largest and does not freeze over.

- Smith Rock State Park is on the dry side of Oregon so most of the days are sunny or mostly sunny.
