- Tillamook Rock Lighthouse can be seen in the distance from near the trailhead. This lighhouse has an interesting history and is now a repository for cremations.
- Basalt forms these headlands which are now almost worn away by the unceasing battering of the ocean waves.

- More equipment destroyed in the volcanic blast of 1980. Not a flake of paint remains on this equipment. The paint was completely scoured off by the blast debris.
