- Silverback Luina (Latin name: Luina hypoleuca) has silver gray leaves that are kind of oval shaped. The clusters of flowers are white and it likes to grow on rocky areas a ways above the Columbia River.
- The stream below Dry Creek Falls rushes over the mossy rocks as it courses along a forest road which is used as the trail.
- Sunlight reflecting off the frost crystals in the snow along the Pacific Crest Trail between Barlow Pass and Twin Lakes, OR. Older snow can get relatively large ice crystals like these.
- Another example of where the trail was blasted out of the Basalt. The trail was built between 1916 and 1919.
