- The trail passes through a second growth forest mainly of Hemlock trees with a few Vine Maples.

- Gray Whale skeleton along along the Lewis and Clark Discovery Trail near Long Beach, WA. I thought this was a kind of frightening view of the skull.
- Looking east, the view seems to go on forever. This part of the park is very quiet, with no nearby road noise.

- Columnar basalt along the Lewis River about 300 feet below the Lewis River Trail.
- Salmonberries grow along portions of the Moulton Falls Tail and they ripen in early July. They have a fairly bland taste.
- We almost missed seeing this garter snake along the trail. It wasn't in a hurry.
