- Frost on the bark and moss makes interesting patterns. The frost covered moss was swinging in the wind.
- Blue Gentians bloom late into the season near Silver Star Mountain.
- Signs near Recognition Plaza and at Cottonwood Beach tell about Lewis and Clark's encampment in 1806.
- Balch Creek flows past the stone house and sitting on the rocks in the stream. The flowing water drowns out any sounds of the city.
- Sweet Creek Falls is a great place to take a break and sit on the mossy rocks.
- This is the trailhead on the PCT for the West Ridge Trail up Table Mountain. The trail get much steeper from here. We passed this junction and went to the next one.
- Ramona Falls on the Timberline Trail.
