- Mt. Hood is partially eclipsed by the foothills to the southeast. The trees across this slough of the Columbia are on Reed Island.
- The sun makes pools of light as it pierces the forest canopy along Sweet Creek Trail.
- The Heartbreak Ridge Trail goes through this talus field. The reflected sun off the basalt rocks really heats this area up on sunny days.
- Snow along the Timberline Trail in July.
- Triple Falls on Oneonta Creek in the Colubmia River Gorge. The falls are about 120 feet tall.
- Pacific Crest Trail on the way to Twin Lakes Trail. This is a popular trail and it is hard to lose the way because the cleared trail is a gap in the trees.

- Walking 100 feet away from the Green Point Ridge Trail provides a nice view of North Lake and Mt. Defiance. Take care to remember how far you have wandered off the trail so you don't overshoot the trail while bushwhacking.
