- In winter the Forest Service road becomes a groomed trail through the forest around Trillium Lake. Remember not to walk or snowshoe on top of the cross-country ski tracks because it makes it harder for the skiers to use the trail.
- In the morning we went back to this trail junction sign. The snow was right at the top of the sign the evening before.

- In some places the snow makes steep drifts on the road.
- In many places bushes grow right down to lake shore making it hard to get to. At Great Springs there's a nice little trail, though it is a little rough, and leads right down to the springs.
- In a rainforest, even the signposts have plants growing on them. This is the Cape Lookout Trai, part of the Oregon Cost Trail system.
