- The 1980 eruption caused lahars to sweep down the slopes. Erosion h deepens and erodes thesechannels.
- Down from Windy Pass looking at Spirit Lake and Mt. Rainier.

- We had this great view of Mt. Adams from our camp at sunset.

- Spirit Lake still has logs floating on it and they cluster at different spots around the lake depending on the wind patterns.
- The mountains behind Spirit Lake almost totally hide Mt. Rainer as the trail drops down.

- Big Spring gushes from a gully on the mountainside. A lot of alder grows around here because the ground is stable.
