There are two ponds along the lower trail in the Tom McCall Nature Preserve. This is the larger pond and it is at least a couple of acres in size. These ponds are a magnet for birds.

One area near the second pond sports a bit of Mimulus or Monkeyflower.

There are several nice overlooks of the Columbia River. In most places the cliffs below block most of the highway noise.
