Início / Northern Loop 2009 Photos WA 131
- Some of the wildflowers around the spring in Berkeley Park.
- Snow on the Northern Loop trail near Windy Gap. The trail drops down and soon enters the forest on either side of Windy Gap.
- Sluiskin Mountain looms across the valley of Van Horn Creek.
- Our campsite at Lake James Camp along the Northern Loop Trail at Mt. Rainier National Park. We had the camp to ourselves this night. There was still a bit of snow by the bear pole in late July.
- One of the few waterfalls next to the Wonderland Trail between Dick Creek and Mystic Lake. This is a great place to drench your hat and shirt when climbing up the trail.
- Natural Bridge with Lake Ethel in the background.
- Natural Bridge is a 200 foot wide stone arch. The top is about five feet wide. Some people climb out onto it, a foolhardy act in the backcountry, in my opinion.
- Mystic Lake and Old Desolate along the Wonderland Trail. Enjoy the level trail along Mystic Lake while it lasts.
- Mystic Lake and Old Desolate along the Wonderland Trail. A small stream in the foreground flows into Mystic Lake. The stream at the west end of Mystic Lake is a great place to filter water.
- Mt. Rainier taken from the last switchback in the trees on the way up to Skyscraper Pass. This was a good place to take a break in the shade before climbing up to Skyscraper Pass.
- Mt. Rainier just after sunrise reflected in a meltwater pond. The marine air forms clouds as it flows over Mt. Rainer, then the clouds disappear again. An example of a mountain making its own weather.

- Mt. Rainier is the white mass in back of Sluiskin Mountain. A sloping field of avalanche lillies decorate the nearby hillside.
- Mt. Rainier from just north of the saddle between Moraine Park and Mystic Lake on the Wonderland Trail.
- Mt. Rainier from an overlook along the Northern Loop Trail near Grand Park.
