- A Red-winged blackbird looks for dangererous tourists at the Tom McCall Nature Preserve. These birds love to hang around the ponds.
- The white flowers of Fool's Onion (Latin name: Brodiana hyacinthina) dot the meadows in early to mid-May at the Tom McCall Nature Preserve.
