- The white flowers of Fool's Onion (Latin name: Brodiana hyacinthina) dot the meadows in early to mid-May at the Tom McCall Nature Preserve.
- A Red-winged blackbird looks for dangererous tourists at the Tom McCall Nature Preserve. These birds love to hang around the ponds.
- Turkey Vultures lazily glide across the land looking for a meal at the Tom McCall Nature Preserve.
- Looking Northwest from the Rowena Plateau Trail across the Columbia River towards Washington. This is near the turn-around point of the trail.
- There are several nice overlooks of the Columbia River. In most places the cliffs below block most of the highway noise.
