- Near the cherry orchard are some nice views of the nearby cliffs and the Columbia River.
- Lichen covered oak trees line parts of the trail above the Columbia River.
- Continuing to climb above the river, there are nice views to the west. One lone oak tree holds onto its leaves late into the year.
- The Cherry Orchard Trail passes along this nice area that looks perfect for viewing the Gorge.
- Looking towards the Columbia River you can see how the lack of rainfall prevents very many trees from growing along the Cherry Orchard Trail.
- Climbing up above the river, the trail passes this interesting rock promontory overlooking the Columbia River.
- Here is a nice view of the cliffs along the Columbia River from the Cherry Orchard Trail.
- Just a bit uphill from the trailhead is this sign for the Cherry Orchard Trail. It is easy to walk farther than the 2 miles indicated on the sign.

- Loose rock tumbles down the canyon walls but seldom reaches the trail.
- Looking down Swale Canyon you can see the gentle curves and easy downhill grade of the old railroad.
