- The views never stop on a clear day.
- The views to the north are great above treeline.
- The visitors center at Sunrise.
- The warm weather of the previous day made it easy to cut snow blocks and the 20 degree night froze them together and made the roof strong enough to stand on.
- The Washington Trail Association rebuilt this section of the Hardy Ridge Loop Trail. I think some of the volunteers made this decoration along the upper portion of the eastern part of the loop.

- The weather was cold enough to freeze the snow blocks together and I am able to stand on top of the igloo.
- The West Fork of the Salmon River run crystal clear under an old bridge along an old Forest Service road.
- The western part of the Columbia River sparkles in the sun from this clearing in the trail.
- The white flowers are Matted saxifrage. (Latin name: Saxifraga bronchialis var. vespertina)
