- A fox came by camp in the morning but didn't stay long. There was enough crust on the snow that the fox just walked right on top.
- The trail junction with the Timberline Trail and the trailhead of the Mazama Trail are well signed.
- One area near the second pond sports a bit of Mimulus or Monkeyflower.

- The Moulton Falls Trail crosses the East Fork of the Lewis River on a wood arch bridge.
- Above the timberline, only plants that hug the ground can gather enough warmth to survive and grow. These plants have adapted to cold nights by having small leaves and tiny stems.

- Sunrise from Lunch Counter on Mt. Adams at the 9,500 foot level with the sun just beginning to shine on our tents and warm things up.

- The inside of Mt. Fremont has all the equipment of a fire lookout. It is takes the brunt of winter storms that break windows and have even blown off the roof. During low snow years the rangers have to carry their own water up from Frozen Lake.
