- Trail signs at the first junction of Dog Mountain Trail. The trail to the right passes a viewpoint but the trail on the left is shorter and stays in the woods. There will be plenty of views later.
- This old bulldozer was once part of a logging operation. Another example of what the 1980 blast destroyed.
- A small brook flows across the trail near the trailhead. This picturesque brook flows gently across the Pacific Crest Trail.
- A small log bridge crosses the Inter Fork of the White River on Emmons Glacier View Trail.
- Crater Lake from the Garfield Peak Trail.
- Wonderful clouds were lit by the early morning sun on my way to the trailhead.
- The trail passes through a second growth forest mainly of Hemlock trees with a few Vine Maples.
- The Harms Road Trailhead is up on the prairies between Klickitat and Goldendale. The nearby hills catch the early fall snows and the windswept grasslands offer little shelter.
- Just a bit uphill from the trailhead is this sign for the Cherry Orchard Trail. It is easy to walk farther than the 2 miles indicated on the sign.
- Part of the Tatoosh Range as seen from near Paradise. From left to right, The Castle, Pinnacle Peak, Plummer Peak, Denman Peak.
- Kevin at the junction for Mazama Ridge. Breaking trail from here was tiring through the heavy, wet snow.
- The Crooked River has cut a deep canyon through the basalt of Central Oregon.
- Here we are at Longmire. The road is closed until at least noon and a snowplow has broken down.
- The creek soon flows into the woods and away from the trail.
- Multi-colored rocks jut above the surrounding landscape at Smith Rock State Park.
