Mt. St. Helens viewed from near the June Lake Trailhead. The end of September is usually the best time for fall colors along this trail.

June Lake has a wide, shallow shore which is just right for wading. The lake is surprisingly clear for having this shallow shoreline.

This section of the June Lake Trail is just above June Lake. You can see the recent trail maintenance in September 2010 has restored the tread.

The junction of the June Lake Trail and the Loowit Trail is below timberline as you can see from this shaded trail sign.

Some places on the Loowit Trail are overgrown and here you can barely tell the trail goes through these Vine Maples.

The Loowit Trail is in the lower portion of this photo of Mt. St. Helens. One of the trail markers can be seen if you look closely for a faded orange marker.

Mt. Hood appears to the south as the Loowit Trail winds around Mt. St. Helens.

Jasmine sits on a wheel that was sliced from a deadfall across the trail. This shows how big around many of the trees are in this area.
