- Milepost where we turned around and went back to the trailhead.
- Gray Whale skeleton along along the Lewis and Clark Discovery Trail near Long Beach, WA. I thought this was a kind of frightening view of the skull.
- Columnar basalt along the Lewis River about 300 feet below the Lewis River Trail.
- Broken bridge along the Lewis River Trail.
- Lichen covered oak trees line parts of the trail above the Columbia River.
- Leif Erikson Drive showing the log barrier on the eastern side and the continuation of the Maple Trail just beyond the log barrier.
- The Castle, on the left, looks kind of like a cat's face. Pinnacle Peak in the middle looks so rugged. Plummer Peak is kind of shaped like a chocolate kiss.
- Mt. Rainier rises majestically above everything early in the morning.
- Wildflowers bloom in meadows along the Timberline Trail.
- Lupines blooming in the meadows at the Tom McCall Nature Preserve.

- There is about a 10 foot waterfall next to the Moulton Falls Trail.
- Illumination Rock juts out from the northwest slope of Mt. Hood. This base of this can be a good alternate hike destination.
