- We almost missed seeing this garter snake along the trail. It wasn't in a hurry.
- Looking west you can see the Columbia River in the distance and also see how far you have traveled from the river.
- Between the meadow and Barlow Ridge is an open forest which is pretty easy to walk across the hillside.

- A nutria is busy gathering food in a pond along the Burnt Bridge Creek trail, just east of Andreson Road.
- Dwarf Lupines and Penstamons bloom among the rocks on the Burroughs Mountain Trail at Mt. Rainier National Park.
