- This tree trunk has been sandblasted by storms that rake Mt. Hood. The wood is worn away faster than it can turn gray. The grit almost polishes the wood smooth.
- Anemones (Latin name: Anemone Deltatoidea) bloom in the forest along the tail on the Elk Mountain-Kings Mountain Trail.
- Bob ducks under one of the few deadfalls along the trail.

- Heading back down the trail gives you more spectacular views of Crater Lake, Wizard Island, and the surrounding area.
- The sun is a ball of fire as it burns through the fog at sunset. This was a most incredible sunset from Glacier View.

- Waterfall on Siouxon Creek.
- Steep walls rim the glacier-carved valley above the Indian Bar Shelter. Winter comes early to the high country.
- Here is the huge root ball that is right next to the trail. It is the only place where a root ball like this is next to the trail and is another marker for a turn-around point.
