- Along the trail up to Moraine Park these Avalanche Lillies are taking advantage of summer even though the snow hasn't melted.
- The big patch of dirt in the middle of the photo is the Carbon Glacier covered with rocks and dirt from Mt. Rainier. Fog lies in the Carbon River Valley far below.
- Mt. Rainier just after sunrise reflected in a meltwater pond. The marine air forms clouds as it flows over Mt. Rainer, then the clouds disappear again. An example of a mountain making its own weather.
- A small stream drains away the meltwater out of Moraine Park along the Wonderland Trail.
- Climbing the Wonderland Trail along above the Carbon Glacier provides great views of the glacier and Mt. Rainier.
- Looking at a nearby mountain from above the Wonderland Trail. This was taken between Moraine Park and Mystic Lake.
- Log bridge over the Carbon River on the way to Ipsut Campground. These bridges wash out every year and the fantastic trail crews build new ones or put the old bridges back in place.
- A marmot on a side trail munches on Lupine blooms above Moraine Park.
- Yellowstone Cliffs just west of Windy Gap on the Northern Loop Trail.
- A marmot on a side trail munches on Lupine blooms above Moraine Park.
- Unidentified thistle in bloom growing along the trail next to the Carbon River Glacier.
- Avalanche Lillies along the trail on the way to Moraine Park.
- Here is the suspension bridge over the roaring Carbon River. There was a flood a few years ago that was high enough to cause damage to this bridge and close it for repairs.
- The Carbon Glacier ends at the lowest elevation of any glacier in the United States, except for Alaska. The Winthrop Glacier has to end just about at the same elevation. Mt. Rainier is the white dome in the background.
- I think this waterfall is the tallest in the park, not Comet Falls. It falls from Seattle Park down to the Carbon Glacier.
