Főoldal / Loowit Trail Photos WA 85
- Heidi roping up out of the ravine near the Butte Camp junction.
- Heidi negotiating one of the deadfall on the trail. I'm hoping this was cut out for the Volcano 50 race.
- Heidi crossing the Plains of Abraham. You can see how little plantlife there is 36 years after the eruptuion.
- Heidi crossing the Loowit River in the afternoon. Since this comes from a glacier the water level probably doesn't vary a lot once the snowmelt finishes up. This water is somewhat silty.
- Heidi crosses one of many gullies carved out of the mountainside.
- Heidi coming out of a snow-filled gully on the east side of the Loowit Trail.
- Heidi and I straightened out this marker and added a few more rocks for stability.
- Heather blooming along the Loowit.
- Heather among the boulders on the east side of the Loowit Trail.
- Gusty winds can create dust clouds in Sheep Creek canyon.
- Down from Windy Pass looking at Spirit Lake and Mt. Rainier.
- Chocolate Falls is only a seasonal waterfall.
- Bunchberry or dwarf dogwood carpeting the trailside on June Lake Trail.
- Big Spring gushes from a gully on the mountainside. A lot of alder grows around here because the ground is stable.
- Big snow patches still cover the Loowit Trail even in full sun in the first week in July after the winter of 2016-2017.
