- A beautiful view of Mt. Hood from just above the Pacific Crest Trail.
- A break in the Douglas Fir trees provides a view of the surrounding forest along the Salmon Butte Trail.
- A short side trail from the Salmon Butte Trail leads to a mountain meadow full of wildflowers in the spring and early summer.
- An old Department of Natural Resources sign slowly falls apart just downhill of the trail near where it meets the Pacific Crest Trail.
- Bunchberry or Canadian Dogwood (Latin name: Cornus Canadensis) in the fall with a ring of red berries resting on the green leaves.
- Cardwell's Penstemon (Latin name: Penstemon cardwellii) is a low perennial that forms a mat and has purple to blue-violet flowers. It is common on disturbed, rocky soils.
- Deer Fern (Latin name: Blechnum spicant) sporting new green fronds along the Salmon Butte Trail.
- From the top of Salmon Butte, the Douglas Fir trees frame a view of Mt. Hood.
- I think this is a Rock Cress with white flowers blooming near the top of Salmon Butte.
- Indian Paintbrush or Harsh Paintbrush (Latin name: Castilleja hispida) blooming on the upper slopes of Salmon Butte.
- Japanese Maples backlighted by the sun along the Sedum Ridge Trail.
- Looking south at a ridge leading away from Salmon Butte.
- Mt. Hood in the background and Pacific Rhododendron (Latin name: Rhododendron macrophyllum D. Don ex G. Don) blooming along the Salmon Butte Trail.
- Much of the Salmon Butte hike is among 100 foot tall second growth trees.
