- This is the trailhead on the PCT for the Heartbreak Ridge trail up Table Mountain. This trail has some really steep sections.
- This interesting root ball is along Coldwater Lake.
- There were very few unpleasant bugs on this hike. Just a few at Table Mountain. I watched two butterflies dancing in the air. One would chase the other jetting straight into the air then plunging back towards the flowers. I was amazed how fast these butte
- There is an alternate access to Homestead Falls but you miss walking along the pleasant trail.
- The wide, well groomed trail travels through Kerr Valley.
- The upper slopes of Table Mountain have a nice mix of wildflower and provide wonderful views of Mt. Hood. The sky was getting hazier as the day progressed.
- The trail breaks out of the forest where the hillside bore the full brunt of the 1980 volcanic blast. Still no trees growing after more than 30 years have passed.
- The Sweet Creek Trail goes through a small canyon and an elevated walkway gives a great view of the creek while providing great views of the creek.
- The sun makes pools of light as it pierces the forest canopy along Sweet Creek Trail.
- The spray from the waterfall dampens areas below the falls and allows these Monkeyflowers to thrive. The constant spray also supports mosquitoes near the falls.
- The South Coldwater Trail begins in a new forest and has a moderate climb up to a ridge. Foxglove stretch for the sky in this small clearing.
- The skeleton of a long-dead tree graces the Garfield Peak Trail. Iconic Wizard Island is in the distance.
- The Neahalem River is a trickle compared to the wet season. It looks very inviting in the summer.
- The Neahalem River flows over slippery stones along the Triple C Trail.
- The hiking trail goes out to the end of Table Mountain. This view is looking northwest, away from the Gorge.
