- Walking on the PCT through open forest just north of Jefferson Park, OR.
- We climbed up one of the scree slopes along the Whitewater Trail for exercise and a better view of Mt. Jefferson.
- We found this bark beetle crawling on the log and prodded it into the the light for a better picture. This bug crawled pretty slow so it must be a very nasty tasting bug.
- We played on the slopes of Park Butte for over an hour before we crossed through the pass and dropped down into Jefferson Park.

- We spotted a helicopter carrying water to fight a nearby fire. Luckily the fire never came close to us but it did cause portions of the PCT to be closed.
- We stopped climbing when the slopes look too steep to be entirely safe for the Scouts and the adults too.
