Heim / PCT Little Crater Jefferson Park Photos OR 63
Oppretta dato / 2003 / Juli
- Sunrise on Breitenbush Lake. I'm sure this lake would be more hospitable in the fall but we had clouds of mosquitoes around the lake.
- Sunrise on Breitenbush Lake looking at Mt. Jefferson. The mosquitoes weren't bad until the sun came up. I ended up leaving behind part of my water filter trying to get away from the mosquitoes.
- The wildflowers along the trail were beautiful.
- Heavy snows lingered late and covered the trail. It was a great opportunity for the Scouts to use their route-finding skills. This is looking north back the way we came.
- Climbing up through the snow was an easy way to lose the trail but we were able to take a sighting from a distant landmark and continue on our route.
- Here is Tyler climbing up the trail through the snow. We saw a small patch of the dirt trail on the way up, but it was mostly covered in snow.
- Indian Paintbrush blooms near the snow along the trail.
- Mt. Jefferson looms larger as we walk farther south. When we started we could barely see Mt. Jefferson and now Mt. Hood becomes smaller each day.
- Another day of beautiful weather and plenty of bugs for company during rest stops.
- Mt. Jefferson peeks above the ridge. There were plenty of mosquitoes along this whole section of the trail in July.
- We played on the slopes of Park Butte for over an hour before we crossed through the pass and dropped down into Jefferson Park.
- We played on the slopes of Park Butte for over an hour before we crossed through the pass and dropped down into Jefferson Park.
- Lance is taking a break. Mt. Hood is the snow-capped mountain in the far distance. Olallie Butte is the nearer peak.
- We played on the slopes of Park Butte for over an hour before we crossed through the pass and dropped down into Jefferson Park.
- Mt. Jefferson stands in bold relief against the blue sky as viewed from near Park Butte.
